Queensland toll prices vary according to the road, toll point and type of vehicle being driven.

For an ordinary car, individual tolls currently range from $2.28 at Loganlea to $7.30 through Legacy Way.

A single journey can pass through more than one toll point, so the total cost may be higher than the individual prices shown below.

The Toowoomba Bypass has a single toll point at Cranley, east of the Mort Street Interchange.

How much can regular toll-road commuting cost?

A toll may look relatively small when viewed as a single charge. The annual cost can be much larger for someone using the same road every working day.

For example, a driver paying the $6.02 Murarrie toll in both directions, five days a week for 48 weeks, would pay:

$6.02 × 2 trips × 5 days × 48 weeks = $2,889.60 per year

That estimate covers one toll point only.

It does not include other toll points, video matching fees, account charges, fuel, registration or parking.

Which vehicle class applies?

Class 1: Motorcycles

This category generally covers two-wheeled motor vehicles, including motorcycles fitted with a sidecar or towing a trailer.

Class 2: Cars

This includes ordinary passenger vehicles and taxis.

A standard car remains a Class 2 vehicle when towing a trailer or caravan.

Class 3: Light commercial vehicles

This generally covers registered commercial vehicles such as certain rigid trucks, load-carrying vans and utilities with a gross vehicle mass above 1.5 tonnes and no more than 4.5 tonnes.

Class 4: Heavy commercial vehicles

This category includes larger trucks, articulated vehicles, buses and certain vehicles with three or more axles or a gross vehicle mass above 4.5 tonnes.

Extra toll fees in Queensland

The road toll is not always the final amount charged.

Current additional fees can include:

Video Matching Fee: $0.55
Toll Invoice Fee: $10.81
Demand Notice Fee: $30.28
Direct debit return fee: $1.10
Tag non-return fee: $15.00
Requested paper statement: $2.75

The Video Matching Fee can apply when a valid electronic tag is not detected and the vehicle must be identified from its number plate.

The Toll Invoice Fee applies when Linkt issues a toll invoice.

If the invoice remains unpaid and a Demand Notice is issued, the higher Demand Notice Fee may be added.

These fees can turn a relatively small unpaid toll into a much larger amount.

When do Queensland toll prices increase?

Most Queensland toll prices are reviewed on 1 July each year in line with Brisbane inflation.

AirportlinkM7 follows a separate timetable. Its prices are adjusted on 1 January each year.

There are therefore two important toll-price change dates:

1 January for AirportlinkM7
1 July for most other Queensland toll roads

How to pay for a Queensland toll

Most tolls change on 1 July.

AirportlinkM7 prices change on 1 January, so it follows a different annual schedule.

What happens if I do not pay a Queensland toll?

The operator may issue a Toll Invoice and add an administration fee.

If it remains unpaid, a Demand Notice may follow with a larger fee. Continuing to ignore the matter can eventually lead to government enforcement.
