Sold Your Car but Received a Linkt Toll Notice?

A toll notice after selling a vehicle does not automatically mean you should pay it or ignore it. First compare the trip date with the sale and registration-transfer records. Then respond through the process shown on the notice.

Check these details

  • vehicle registration and state

  • date, time and toll road

  • date and time the vehicle was handed over

  • registration transfer or disposal receipt

  • sale contract, bank record or buyer correspondence

Remove the vehicle from your toll account

If the sold vehicle is still linked to your Linkt account, remove it and check whether any trips after the sale were charged. If you transferred a physical tag to another car, make sure the new vehicle is correctly listed.

Respond to the notice

Use the dispute, nomination or statutory declaration process stated on the document. Provide clear evidence of the sale and transfer date. Liability rules differ by state and by the stage of the notice, so do not assume a phone call alone has stopped a deadline.

What if the buyer delayed the registration transfer?

Supply the disposal notice and sale evidence to the registration authority and toll operator. Keep copies of everything submitted. If a government infringement has already been issued, follow the review instructions on that document as well.
