Free things to do in Logan for adults

By Robin Hood Tech · Checked 1 November 2026

An afternoon out doesn't need a ticket. Logan has free exhibitions, local history and public places where you can slow down and look around.

This is a researched guide, not a claim that we've personally visited or audited every venue. Free refers to general entry or the activity described. Transport, food, special events and optional purchases can still cost money.

1. Spend time with an exhibition

Logan Art Gallery is at the corner of Wembley Road and Jacaranda Avenue, Logan Central. General exhibition entry is free, with the venue listing Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm. Workshops and events have their own fees or bookings. Pick one work each and talk about what you notice before reading its label.

2. Visit Mayes Cottage

The house museum at 20 Mawarra Street, Kingston offers free entry. The venue page lists Thursday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm excluding public holidays; a council overview gives a 10:30am start. Confirm before setting off. The heritage building is not wheelchair accessible, and groups of eight or more need advance arrangements.

3. Hear the stories of Logan

The Living Museum of Logan at Kingston Butter Factory explores the people and communities of the city. General entry is free. Its venue information lists Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm, with additional access around some performances. Check current exhibitions and group arrangements directly.

4. Follow a public art or heritage trail

Council publishes downloadable guides for areas including Logan Central to Kingston and Underwood to Eagleby. Choose a small section rather than trying to cover an entire district in one outing. A trail map does not guarantee every interior is open or free, so check individual stops. Don't treat a regional trail as a continuous walking route.

5. Take a riverside break in Beenleigh

Visit Brisbane lists Logan River Parklands on Blackbird Street, Beenleigh as a free experience, with outdoor fitness and recreation facilities. Bring your own refreshments and try a short observation challenge from a permitted path. Check council notices and conditions after rain, and keep clear of water edges.

A simple plan that stays affordable

Choose one main stop and one optional nearby activity. Set your transport and food budget before leaving. For an exhibition visit, leave time to read and talk; for an outdoor outing, allow for shade, rest and changing weather. Check accessible entrances, toilets and parking with the venue if those details matter to your group.

Want something to do while you're out? Our free scavenger hunt gives you observation prompts without requiring a paid app. Follow venue photography rules and skip prompts that don't suit the place.
