Understand the reward before you join
Australian rewards programs: LMCT+, points, cashback and game rewards
By Robin Hood Tech · Original checks 31 October 2026 · Free-program and investing-promotion comparisons added 1 November 2026
Looking for LMCT+ alternatives or rewards apps in Australia? Start with what you want back: a discount on something you already buy, points you can redeem, cashback, a promotional prize entry or simply progress in a game. Those are different benefits, even when they share the word “rewards”.
Robin Hood is not currently a like-for-like alternative to LMCT+. Our app is in development. Its planned pilot uses virtual game coins with no cash value. It does not offer a live discounts marketplace or prize-draw membership.
Which kind of reward are you looking for?
| Model | How it works | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Membership discounts and promotions | Pay for access to specified benefits. Eligible LMCT+ packages also include promotional entries. | The exact tier, renewal cost, participating businesses and individual promotion rules. |
| Shopping loyalty points | Earn points on eligible spending and redeem under a program’s rules. | Exclusions, redemption thresholds and whether you would buy the items anyway. |
| Cashback | Eligible purchases or activities earn an amount that must meet confirmation and withdrawal conditions. | Tracking requirements, approval times, exclusions and payout minimums. |
| Non-cash game rewards | Coins or collection progress recognise participation. This is the model planned for Robin Hood’s pilot. | Whether rewards are redeemable at all. Robin Hood pilot coins have no cash value and no redemption. |
For a current points example, Everyday Rewards describes collecting points on eligible shopping and choosing $10 off a future shop or 1,000 Qantas Points when you reach 2,000 points. Its exclusions and offer conditions still apply.
For a cashback example, ShopBack’s own guide explains tracked, pending and confirmed cashback. It lists bank transfer and PayPal withdrawals, with a $10 confirmed-balance minimum. Returns, unapproved voucher codes and tracking problems can affect eligibility. These examples explain the models; they are not a ranking of every Australian program.
Free rewards programs without a paid membership
We can compare three common Australian models without paying a recurring membership fee: supermarket points, another retailer's points program, and tracked cashback. Free membership doesn't mean free shopping, and we haven't personally tested redemptions. Details below were checked against official information on 1 November 2026.
| Program | Membership cost | What you can receive | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flybuys | Free to join. | Eligible pay-with-points redemptions include $10 off for 2,000 points at participating stores. | Account registration, retailer participation, eligible purchases and redemption rules. |
| Everyday Rewards | Standard membership is free. | 2,000 points can provide $10 Everyday Rewards dollars or 1,000 Qantas Points, depending on your selected rewards choice. | Eligible-shop exclusions, rewards choice, participating stores and expiry. |
| ShopBack Australia | Standard cashback service has no membership fee. | Confirmed cashback, with withdrawals from $10 under the published Australian guide. | Tracking, merchant exclusions, confirmation, returns and withdrawal verification. |
Flybuys: choose rewards from ordinary spending
Flybuys confirms that joining is free. Its setup guide says members must be over 16. For adults comparing it, focus on stores you already use. The pay-with-points guide lists eligible $10 redemptions for 2,000 points. Not every purchase or store qualifies, and retailer-specific limits apply.
Everyday Rewards: standard membership and paid extras differ
The official points FAQ confirms free joining and explains the 2,000-point redemption choices. Standard membership should not be confused with a separate paid subscription such as Everyday Extra. Read the current program terms, including eligibility, exclusions and expiry, and check the rewards choice on your account. A headline redemption value doesn't establish the cheapest place to shop.
ShopBack: pending cashback isn't ready to spend
ShopBack's Australian guidance describes standard cashback as free to join and use. Its withdrawal guide lists Australian bank transfer and PayPal, a $10 confirmed-balance minimum and a $300 daily withdrawal limit. Read the Australian terms and the specific merchant offer before buying. Tracking, exclusions, returns and confirmation can affect whether a purchase earns anything.
A useful way to choose
- Start with a purchase you already intend to make.
- Compare the final price elsewhere, including delivery.
- Check whether points, cashback or a discount can actually be used by your account.
- Read expiry and activation rules, and review the data permissions you're accepting.
- Keep prize entries separate from guaranteed savings.
If a paid membership is also on your shortlist, use our membership value calculator. For rewards connected to steps, read our Australian walking-app comparison. Neither guide treats Robin Hood pilot coins as cash or redeemable shopping rewards.
Investing signup promotions versus everyday rewards
Official promotion information checked 1 November 2026
A stock signup offer is attached to a financial account. Shopping points and cashback are attached to eligible purchases, while a game's virtual coins may only record progress. The word “reward” does not make these benefits interchangeable.
Robin Hood Tech is independent and not affiliated with Robinhood Markets. Our app is a separate game in development. Our pilot-interest registration does not open an investment account or qualify anyone for a Robinhood stock promotion.
| Model | What triggers it? | What can limit its usefulness? |
|---|---|---|
| Investing signup promotion | An eligible new financial account and the offer's required steps. | Residence, approval, claim deadlines, holding periods, fees, currency and investment risk. |
| Shopping points or cashback | Eligible purchases and program conditions. | Extra spending, exclusions, tracking, confirmation, expiry and redemption limits. |
| Robin Hood pilot coins | Planned game activity during our controlled pilot. | No cash value or redemption. The app is not publicly available. |
A current Robinhood example, with the conditions attached
The official US “Open account, pick your stock” offer is for eligible new US-resident customers. Its terms require an approved individual taxable brokerage account, a linked bank account or debit card, and a reward claim within 60 days. They specify a three-trading-day restriction before selling the awarded shares and a 60-day restriction on withdrawing the reward's cash value. It is not an immediately withdrawable shopping rebate, and it is not offered to someone merely because they see the page in Australia.
Referral arrangements are separate again. The US tiered referral program uses qualifying funded accounts and referral milestones. Read the particular offer rather than assuming all signup and referral promotions work alike.
Use a fair comparison
First decide whether you want ordinary shopping savings or a financial service. Compare a purchase's final price without a reward, then consider rewards you can realistically redeem. For a financial promotion, check eligibility, currency, withdrawal conditions and relevant fees before treating the headline as accessible value. A promotional share's value can change. Do not count potential prizes, future investment gains or our pilot coins as savings.
Our membership value calculator is for realistic membership savings and costs; it is not an investment-return calculator. For country-specific access, read is Robinhood available in Australia? LMCT+ has several products, not one universal plan
LMCT+ describes a paid savings and rewards platform. Its FAQ distinguishes one-off access packages from recurring memberships, with giveaway entries included in eligible offers. Benefit access depends on the offer and tier.
| Product | Displayed price | Important distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Entry membership | $19.99 monthly or $199 yearly | Recurring loyalty membership; tier-specific access. |
| Premium membership | $49.99 monthly or $499 yearly | Different inclusions from Entry. |
| Elite membership | $99.99 monthly or $999 yearly | Different inclusions from Premium. |
| Saver: Save on Fuel & Groceries | $99 yearly on Saver signup | Separate annual product. Grocery member pricing was labelled “coming soon” on that signup page. |
| Saver: Save & Win | $199 yearly on Saver signup | Advertises additional benefits and giveaway entries. Check the specific offer and promotion conditions. |
| One-off access packages | Check the particular offer | Time-limited access rather than an ongoing loyalty subscription. No single universal price is stated here. |
Sources: LMCT+ membership pricing and Saver plan selection. The main membership page separately displays “Petrol Saver” at $99.99 a year, whereas Saver signup and its fuel terms state $99. We have retained that discrepancy. Confirm the price and inclusions for the exact product before paying.
Read the terms for the product you select
The loyalty membership terms describe recurring direct debits until cancellation, tier-dependent discounts and promotional conditions. One-off packages purchased through a promotion’s official link apply to that particular promotion. Partner offers can change. Cancellation and stopping marketing messages are separate actions.
The separate Fuel Saver terms describe an annual subscription that renews automatically, benefits at participating outlets and no guaranteed level of savings. They do not automatically grant the broader loyalty program’s benefits or prize entries. Their location information is dated, so check the current outlets and the exact signup offer rather than assuming nationwide access.
LMCT+’s general terms also describe in-app coins, games and eligible marketplace redemption. That is different from Robin Hood’s planned non-redeemable pilot coins. Neither the word “coins” nor a promotional entry tells you what you can actually receive.
Where Robin Hood fits today
We’re building a location-based game with a cheeky Robin Hood spirit. The first controlled pilot is planned for Australian adults aged 18 or over on supported Android devices. Invitations, locations and dates are still to be confirmed. There is no public app download or confirmed release date.
- Available now: our website, app information and pilot-interest form. Registering interest is not joining a live rewards service and does not guarantee a pilot place.
- In development: the app and its account foundations. The planned experience includes activities at administrator-approved places, stationary virtual-camera placement, game challenges, collection history and non-cash coins. These are not released features.
- Outside the approved pilot: cash prizes, coin redemption, transferable coins and a rewards marketplace. We are not offering partner discounts or paid app memberships. Any future commercial rewards would need separate confirmation; none are promised here.
- Later proposal: iOS support. Timing and supported devices remain unconfirmed.
Robin Hood coins have no cash value during the pilot. They are planned game progress, not money back on shopping or a way to pay tolls. Interactive play is intended only while safely stationary. Never play while driving or stop somewhere unsafe.
How to compare without being distracted by the headline
- Choose the outcome first. If you want shopping savings now, compare services that actually provide them. If you want to help test a game, a developing pilot is a different choice.
- Use your normal purchases. List offers you could use at accessible businesses. Compare the final price with what you normally pay, including any membership fee and extra travel.
- Separate savings from prizes. Do not count a possible prize as money saved. Entry counts alone do not establish your chance of winning.
- Check renewal and exit rules. Read the billing period, cancellation timing, refund wording and what happens to unused rewards. A monthly equivalent is not necessarily monthly billing.
- Check the data you share. Review permissions, marketing consent and deletion options. Only provide information needed for the service.
For example, if a hypothetical program costs $120 a year and saves you $8 a month on purchases you would make anyway, that is $96 in savings against a $120 fee. You would be $24 behind before any extra spending. This is an illustration, not a claim about any provider’s results.
