Brisbane Toll Roads in a Rental Car: Payment Guide
Rental cars can use every Brisbane toll road, but the payment method is set by the rental company or by an account you arrange. The most expensive mistake is assuming the vehicle already has a normal Linkt account without checking the hire agreement.
Check the rental agreement first
Rental companies use different toll arrangements. Some automatically match toll trips to the vehicle and charge your card with a service fee. Others offer a daily toll product or require you to arrange payment. Read the toll section before leaving the depot.
Can I use my own Linkt account?
Linkt says a rental vehicle may be added to your account in some circumstances. Enter the registration, state and exact rental period. Remove the vehicle immediately after return so you are not charged for a later customer's trips. Do not place your tag in the rental vehicle unless the account and vehicle details are correctly linked.
How to avoid extra charges
Photograph the registration plate at collection.
Record the pickup and return date and time.
Check whether the rental company charges per trip, per day or per notice.
Keep toll and rental receipts.
Remove the car from your personal account after return.
What if a toll notice arrives?
Compare the trip time with the rental period. If you were responsible, follow the payment process promptly. If the trip occurred outside your rental period, contact the rental company and Linkt with the agreement and return receipt.
