NSW Toll Roads: Payments, Demands and Toll Relief in 2026
Used a Sydney toll road and unsure whether you paid? Received a toll payment demand? Or paying so much each week that you want to check the NSW toll rebate?
Start with the problem you need to solve. The road you travelled on matters because Sydney Harbour Bridge and Harbour Tunnel payments are handled by E-Toll. Other Sydney toll roads are handled by Linkt.
If you want the price of a particular road, go to our Sydney toll roads and prices guide. It links to our guides for ten individual roads.
I drove on a toll road without an account or pass
Service NSW says motorists who use a NSW toll road without an active account or pass have 72 hours to arrange payment. You may be able to open an account or set up a casual pass. Act promptly rather than waiting for a letter.
For the Sydney Harbour Bridge or Harbour Tunnel, check your trip through E-Toll.
For other Sydney toll roads, including the M2, M7, NorthConnex and WestConnex, check through Linkt.
I received a toll payment demand
Read the road name, registration, travel date, amount and due date on the demand. If something looks wrong, use the provider named on the document to check the trip. Service NSW also explains how to pay a toll or toll payment demand.
The NSW changes to toll notice administration fees did not wipe unpaid tolls. A video matching fee may still apply when camera images are used to match a vehicle to a trip.
What is the NSW $50 weekly toll cap?
The current $50 threshold is a rebate, not a point where toll charges automatically stop. Eligible drivers pay their tolls and claim the qualifying amount through Service NSW.
The $50 threshold applies to eligible travel from 6 July 2026 for 12 months. Eligibility includes requirements about NSW residency, a linked personal toll account, a privately registered NSW vehicle and Class A travel. Business use, some casual passes and various fees are excluded.
Check the Service NSW toll relief rules before relying on a rebate. Two people who spend the same amount on tolls may have different eligibility.
Find the toll road you used
Our Sydney toll roads and prices guide covers the M4, M7, M8, WestConnex, Sydney Harbour Bridge, M2, NorthConnex, Eastern Distributor, Cross City Tunnel and Lane Cove Tunnel. Each road has different pricing, so use the individual guide or an official toll calculator for your exact trip.
Why Robin Hood Tech is following NSW tolls
For some Sydney drivers, a toll is part of getting to work, not an occasional shortcut. We want to show what those trips cost over time, what happens when payment goes wrong and whether the system treats drivers fairly.
Robin Hood Tech is an independent campaign and information project founded by Adam Littlefield. These guides are general information. Check the official provider and any deadline on a notice you have received.
