NSW Toll Notice Fees Were Removed in 2026
NSW removed toll notice administration fees from July 2026 as part of changes to the unpaid-toll process. That does not mean unpaid tolls have been cancelled. Drivers still owe the underlying toll and may face later consequences if they ignore reminders.
What changed?
The separate administration fee previously added to a NSW toll notice was removed. Digital reminders are being used earlier in the process to give account holders and registered operators more opportunity to resolve an unpaid trip.
What do drivers still pay?
the original toll charge
any applicable video or number-plate matching amount
charges arising under a different state or operator process
any later government penalty that may lawfully be issued after continued non-payment
The exact amount depends on the road, account status, vehicle class and stage of the matter. Read the heading and issuer on the document before paying.
What should you do with an unpaid-toll reminder?
Confirm the registration, trip date, road and vehicle class. If the trip is yours, pay or transfer it to the correct account promptly. If the vehicle was sold, stolen or incorrectly identified, use the review or nomination process and keep supporting records.
Does this apply outside NSW?
No. Queensland and Victoria have their own toll notice and fee arrangements. Do not apply the NSW fee change to a Brisbane or Melbourne document.
