NSW $50 Weekly Toll Cap 2026: How to Claim Your Rebate
NSW drivers can claim back eligible toll spending above $50 a week under the 2026 Toll Relief Cap. The scheme applies for 12 months from 6 July 2026, but it is not automatic. You must meet the eligibility rules and submit a claim through Service NSW.
Current claim window: claims are open for eligible toll spending from 6 July to 4 October 2026. Service NSW says claims for this period opened on 11 October 2026 and close on 31 December 2027.
How the $50 weekly toll cap works
If eligible toll travel on your personal toll account exceeds $50 in a Monday-to-Sunday week, you may claim the amount above $50. The cap is assessed week by week. Spending in one week cannot normally be carried into another.
For example, if your eligible personal toll spend is $72 in one week, the potential rebate is $22. If you spend $46 the next week, there is no rebate for that week.
Who can claim?
Service NSW says the scheme is intended for NSW residents using privately registered vehicles for personal travel. You generally need:
a personal toll account in your name
an eligible privately registered vehicle linked to that account
more than $50 of eligible NSW toll spending in a week
a MyServiceNSW Account with your identity verified
bank details for the rebate payment
What is excluded?
Common exclusions include business travel, business-registered vehicles, taxis, hire cars, rideshare and delivery work, Class B vehicles, casual road passes, travel outside NSW and tolls recorded on some interstate accounts. Check the official eligibility rules before relying on an estimate.
