The published 2026 Class A maximum for the M8 between Beverly Hills and St Peters is $9.15.

The M8 is part of WestConnex and uses distance-based tolling. Shorter journeys can cost less, while longer connected WestConnex journeys can fall under the wider network cap.

The M8 remains on its January 2026 WestConnex rates. There is no separate M8 increase on 1 October 2026.

M8 Toll Prices for Cars in 2026

The main Class A figures are:

  • Flagfall: $1.80

  • Distance rate: $0.6667 per kilometre

  • Beverly Hills to St Peters maximum: $9.15

  • Wider WestConnex cap for one continuous journey longer than 16 kilometres: $12.74

The annual price release does not provide one simple minimum covering every possible M8 journey.

Where Does the M8 Run?

The M8 is a tunnel of roughly nine kilometres between King Georges Road at Beverly Hills and St Peters.

It continues through the M4-M8 Link toward Rozelle, City West Link and Victoria Road.

The M8 is tolled in both directions.

At King Georges Road, motorists can enter the M8 eastbound and exit westbound.

St Peters provides entry and exit access in both directions.

How Is the M8 Toll Calculated?

WestConnex applies a flagfall plus a per-kilometre charge.

A connected journey through more than one WestConnex section is treated as one transaction. It is not calculated by simply adding every published section maximum.

A full journey from Beverly Hills to Rozelle exceeds 16 kilometres. The Class A WestConnex network cap of $12.74 is therefore relevant.

Do not add the $9.15 M8 maximum to the M4-M8 Link maximum to estimate a continuous journey.

Is the M8 the Same as the M5 East?

No.

The M8 and M5 East are separate road sections within the wider WestConnex network.

Both have a published 2026 Class A maximum of $9.15, but they serve different routes.

Your toll statement or calculator result should identify which road section was used.

M8 Vehicle Classes

Class A generally covers vehicles no more than 2.8 metres high and no more than 12.5 metres long.

Cars and motorcycles are normally Class A.

A vehicle exceeding either measurement is generally Class B and can pay around three times the Class A WestConnex toll.

Trailers, caravans and roof loads can affect your vehicle class.

How to Pay an M8 Toll

The M8 is fully electronic. There are no cash tollbooths.

Payment options include:

  • A tag account

  • A tagless account

  • A Sydney Pass

  • Another accepted Australian toll account

If you travelled without a payment arrangement, act immediately and preferably within two days.

A number-plate matching fee can apply if no working tag is detected.

NSW Toll Relief for M8 Travel

Eligible personal Class A M8 travel can count toward the temporary NSW $50 weekly toll rebate.

The rebate is claimed through Service NSW. Account fees and number-plate matching fees are not part of the eligible toll spend.

Future M8 Connections

M6 Stage 1 is planned to connect with the M8 at Arncliffe and continue toward President Avenue at Kogarah.

A revised completion timetable and final toll details should be checked with Transport for NSW before any future price is published.
